I will never forget the first time I saw someone having a seizure. I was on the subway when a man suddenly collapsed onto the floor and started violently shaking. I froze. Shocked and scared, I did the only thing I could think of—I ran away.
Later, I couldn’t stop thinking about what had happened. I realized that the man hadn’t needed people to panic; he had needed someone who knew how to help. The truth was, I had felt completely powerless.
That moment sparked my curiosity about epilepsy. I wanted to understand what was happening inside the brain during a seizure and, more importantly, how I could make a difference. I began conducting epilepsy research at NYU Langone, where I learned about the science behind seizures and the challenges faced by people living with epilepsy. I also became certified in Seizure First Aid so that, if I ever witnessed another seizure, I would know exactly what to do.
This website is an extension of that journey. My hope is that by sharing accurate information and practical resources, more people will feel informed, confident, and ready to help—because no one should have to feel as powerless as I once did.
